About Me

Tatham ("Tay-Thumb") Johnson RMT B.Sc. CS

I started my career as a successful computer game programmer. But as I tried to balance 8-10 hours of deskwork with my active hobbies I found myself working in pain most days of the week. Shoulder, hip, lower back: there was always some nagging discomfort, and it was clear I wasn't the only one dealing with these issues! Finally, after damaging a nerve I turned my attention to understanding why these pains and aches were so common and what can be done about it.

Over a decade I learned everything I could about human anatomy, biomechanics and movement, assessment and manual therapy techniques, and existing ancient practices around vitality and longevity. My journey took me through yoga, Crossfit, martial arts, Structural Integration, breathwork, strength training and Olympic lifting, a Massage Therapy certification, osteopathic techniques and even pelvic floor physio. Then I came across a concept from the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) that brought all of this learning together at once: there are two separate sides to the body, and they're being pushed out of balance all the time.

My work now focuses on assessing and balancing asymmetries in the body using PRI assessments and treatments combined with fascial release, structural integration, neuromuscular and traditional massage techniques. I use objective testing to understand the patterns you are holding in your muscles, then work with you to find the right exercises and hands-on manual therapy that will first unlock those held patterns and access a neutral state, then balance and bring awareness for repatterning so you can hold on to those changes for the rest of your life.
